They have just acquired the rights to a spectacular fantasy saga that will surely impress all fans of the genre.
Admittedly, the sword and sorcery genre is at its best when it comes to film adaptations or streaming series. Since to The Witcher from Netflix will join him the house of the dragon a spin-off of Game of Thronesbut we will also see The Lord of the rings and the movie Dungeons and Dragons. But if there is a fantasy saga that should have its adaptation to real action, it is undoubtedly Kane by Karl Edward Wagner.
Debuting in 1973, this fantasy saga stars an immortal antihero who appeared in 20 short stories and three full-length novels, selling millions of copies and cultivating a sizable fan base in the process. Although, currently its popularity may not be very high, surely if they make a good adaptation that changes radically.
The producers Roy Lee, Andrew Trapani Y Steven Schneiderr have purchased the rights to Kane which is set in a brutal, bloody and violent world filled with gothic horror, medieval-inspired mythology, romance, tragedy and much more.
Who is Kane?
This fantasy saga is starring kane, a man whose past is very little known (although he could be the son of the biblical Adam and Lilith). He was cursed with eternal life, however he can take wounds though he heals quickly. Over the centuries he has experienced numerous adventures and has shown that he is a great warrior and sorcerer.
A major theme running through this fantasy saga is Kane’s weariness with his own immortality and his attempts to make sense of his existence. To create it, the author was inspired by Elric of Melnibone from Michael Moorecock and in novels like Melmoth the Wanderer (1820) and The Worm Ouroboros (1922). Although fans always compare it to Conan the barbarian.
