AI bots in Battlefield 2042 will be ‘very hard’ to distinguish from human players

Battlefield 2042The game’s design director has revealed that the game’s AI bots are difficult to distinguish from human players, which is good to know as the feature cannot be turned off.

Speaking to VG247, Justin Wiebte noted that the team of Ripple Effect Studios and DICE Swedes put a lot of effort into making the AI behave realistically, so players will have a hard time determining if they’re just bots or real players.

We tried to put in a lot of effort to make them play like a player would. So it would be very difficult for people to tell the difference between an AI and a real human player because they will run around, drive vehicles, pick each other up, they will fall [each other] out at objective locations and things like that – it’s a very intelligent system.

And then you can tweak and fine-tune some of the things they can and can’t do, including how hard they are to play against.

Battlefield 2042 is scheduled to release on October 22, 2021 for PS5, PS4, PC, Xbox Series X/S, and Xbox One.
