After nearly a year of being plagued by hackers and server issues, and months of downtime while developers worked on the issues, a majority of older Little big planet servers are now permanently shut down. The official Little big planet Twitter account released a statement announcing that LittleBigPlanet 1-3 on PS3, and Little big planet PS Vita is closed for good. This decision follows numerous server issues that have sometimes led hackers to hate speech via in-game messages, among a number of other issues. The Little big planet However, 3 PS4 servers are back online, at least retaining the more than 10 million user-generated levels from the main series.

This decision comes after developers spent months fixing issues arising from malicious scripts that could do anything from crashing servers to displaying hateful messages in-game. While players can still access all community levels through LBP 3 PS4, as well as uploading newly created levels there, shutting down the server means that the series on PS3 and Vita is now limited to the single player campaign and only locally created levels. Players will no longer be able to upload or download new levels from those games.
The full shutdown statement reads:
LittleBigPlanet service update
First, we would like to apologize for the extended downtime of the LittleBigPlanet server and thank you all for your patience as we work on this issue.
The good news is that we just launched Game Update 1.27 and put the LittleBigPlanet server (and all 10,000,000+ Community Levels!!) back online for PlayStation 4 users!
Unfortunately, we have to permanently shut down our online services for: LittleBigPlanet, LittleBigPlanet 2, LittleBigPlanet 3 (PS3) and LittleBigPlanet PS Vita.
We have no doubt that this news will be a great disappointment to many of you. Ultimately, this is the best way to protect the LittleBigPlanet community and keep our online environment safe.
Thank you for being a wonderful community and for your continued love and support for all things Sackboy.
The team has clarified a number of important points about this:
- All community content previously published on our server via LBP1/LBP2/LBP3 on PlayStation 3 is still available at LittleBigPlanet 3 on PlayStation 4.
- You can still get the Story Modes and Level Pack DLC from . play LBP1, LBP2 and LBP3 on PlayStation 3 in single player or local co-op.
It’s not all bad news, though. While the ultimate solution to the problem was to shut down the older one Little big planet servers, does this mean that the LBP 3 servers on PS4 are up and running again. It remains to be seen whether those will still be plagued by any of the earlier problems, but it seems that, at least for now, the Little big planet In any case, the community can be happy that the server issues have been resolved after almost a year of problems and downtime, even if that means the servers of the PS3 and Vita games had to close for good.
