Persona and Shin Megami Tensei series developer Atlus plans to announce a new game sometime in 2022. Specifically, Atlus producer Shinjiro Takada says he hopes the new title will become a “pillar” for the studio.
The information comes from a year-end interview with the popular Japanese video game outlet Famitsu. The magazine interviewed a total of 127 Japanese video game makers from studios such as Square Enix, Platinum Games and many others. Several Atlus collaborators also appeared, such as Shinjiro Takada and Persona series director Katsura Hashino.
Takada chose the word “challenge” as his keyword for 2022, stating that he chose the term because the studio hopes to release a new game in the coming year. Furthermore, Takada hopes the new title will act as a “pillar” for the company, alongside other big name series such as Persona and Shin Megami Tensei. Likewise, Hashino also states that the studio is currently in preparation, but cannot say specifically what they are working on.
The news follows posts from earlier this year that Atlus is working on persona 6. The company is also currently celebrating the 25th anniversary of the Persona series. More announcements about the franchise are likely to come in the coming year.
