Bad Battlefield 2042 sales partially attributed to Halo Infinite

Battlefield 2042 publisher electronic art thinks Halo Infinite contributed to the less-than-great sales of its futuristic first-person shooter.

Laura Miele, Chief Studios Officer at EA, said in a “Town Hall” employee meeting that the company “didn’t live up to our players’ expectations and clearly missed our own expectations as well.”

Miele went on to highlight a number of areas that contributed to the game’s poor performance, including its ambitious nature and the global coronavirus pandemic, which made development a lot more complicated. She did mention that among the criticisms of various bugs, there was a lot of positive feedback among gamers.

The executive said the Battlefield 2042 launch was also impacted by the release of Halo Infinite, drawing an unfavorable comparison between Ripple Effect Studio’s efforts and 343 Industries’ game, with the latter being considered an overall more polished affair.
