Battle.net gets a makeover

Blizzard’s launcher, Battle.net, hasn’t had a major visual update since the release of the very first Diablo. That’s since 1996, for those who didn’t know. As far as we are concerned, it is indeed time for some nice improvements.

In the current version of the Battle.net launcher, we see a column with all game icons on the left. The selected game then shows a fairly unclear page with some news tiles, of which you can see two with a good monitor. For example, the various games can now be found at the top. A number of news items from the selected game appear on larger tiles, compared to the relatively clumsy side-scroll tiles we saw earlier.

The social panel has also been improved. Your friends and contacts are now visible in a handy list on the right. It is therefore no longer visible either per game, or your friends list as a separate screen. Much more convenient in my opinion! Blizzard has also improved accessibility. You can now operate the largest part with your keyboard, is the screen reader option improved (for visually impaired) and color contrast improved.

We just have to wait here for the update; North America is the first to act. They will check whether everything is running smoothly and as soon as everything goes well, other regions will also receive the latest version. Check out the new layout below and let us know what you think of it!
