Battlefield 2042’s Battlefield Portal with ‘Historic’ and ‘Official’ Weapon Balance Settings

Ripple Effect Studios announced that Battlefield 2042The Battlefield Portal will feature two settings for its weapons in an effort to balance the World War II era and modern armament in the game. In that regard, players have two types: Official and Historical.

Thomas Anderson, the studio’s creative director, said during an interview with JackFrags:

We have two different tweaks for the weapons. We have that is the “official” setting that has been weighed against the 2042 weapons. Be it a Thompson gun or whatever, right? These can stand up to what we have in 2042. And then we have, we call these “Historic” tweaks. Let’s just say it wasn’t easier being an infantry back then compared to what it is now.

Our historical tweaks try to recapture the feeling of that time. So if you want to create a very symmetrical game mode, you can have the historical tweaks from (BF) 1942 alongside the modern tweaks from 2042. But it’s up to you whether you want to set the official thing, or whether you want the historical setting.

Battlefield Portal gives players the chance to create a wealth of custom gameplay experiences using maps, units, weapons and more from past Battlefield games. In fact, the only thing you can’t do is create a Battle Royale mode.

Battlefield 2042 is scheduled to release on October 22, 2021 on PS5, PS4, PC, Xbox Series X/S, and Xbox One.
