Benedict Fox will take over his last case early next year

Descend into a limbo of decadent memories in this handcrafted metroidvania.

Hello, we are Plot Twist, a young but experienced studio on the Polish independent video game map. We have just revealed our new project called The Last Case of Benedict Fox at Xbox & Bethesda Games Showcase and we can’t wait to tell you more about it.

When we started the project, we knew we wanted to create a world you could believe in, tell a story that would stay with you, and design gameplay that would draw you in. The Last Case of Benedict Fox a handmade metroidvania experience.

By “handcrafted,” we mean a perfect blend of the depth and richness of a metroidvania with the immersive atmosphere of cinematic platformers. In other words, you’ll battle demons, solve elaborate puzzles, and explore surreal maze-like locales, all the while uncovering a fascinating and twisted plot involving secret organizations, forbidden rituals, and cold-blooded murder.

One of the things that makes Benedict’s investigation special is his Companion. Our detective was bound to a demonic being at birth and his fates have been intertwined ever since. What is an interesting part of the lore itself (let’s talk about that another time!) also has certain practical implications.

First of all, the Companion powers allow you to explore the minds of the recently deceased in your last chance to get a “testimony”. These limbos are surreal worlds where memories, emotions and traumas take physical forms. Ways they will usually want to harm Benedict.

That’s when it becomes obvious that a demon partner is a great asset in combat as well. Combine his powers (which obviously include tentacles!) with firearms and creative use of your surroundings to take down enemies, but remember that concentration and tactical focus are still your best allies.

We have much more to tell you The Last Case of Benedict Fox. We can go on and on about the influences of noir fiction, the early 20th century jazz soundtrack, the Burton-esque art style, the grim history of a certain family… If you’re in for a supernatural mystery, let’s keep in touch. until Benedict begins his investigation. in the spring of 2023.
