Black Ops Cold War and Warzone XP Weekend starts tomorrow

After taking a break for a week, Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War and war zone are back with another bonus weapon XP weekend starting tomorrow, September 24th. Prior to that, both games received updates whose primary purpose was to introduce new playlists and minor tweaks.

The Numbers event, which started just two days ago, continues and rewards players with the double-swing Sai melee weapon when they complete all the challenges in one game or the other. Those who have already unlocked the weapon may be interested in the Dual Weapon XP event starting tomorrow, September 24 at 10 a.m. PT in both games. The weekend runs until September 27 around the same time.

The update for Black Ops Cold War introduced new playlists and made some minor tweaks to Zombies. The full patch notes are below:

Iron Tests ’84

The following changes are exclusive to Iron Trials ’84 mode:

  • Buy stations
    • The Specialist Token has been added
    • Supply Run discounts are now 50% on every item except Team Redeploy (100%), Loadout Drop Marker (10%) and Specialist Token (10%)
    • The Hardline Perk now gives 25% off every item except Self Revive (20%), Loadout Drop Marker (10%) and Specialist Token (20%)

We suspect that very few people can say that they bought a Specialist Token. However, we believe there is an opportunity to provide high-level players with additional impactful outlets for their hard-earned resources. In addition, we want to further enable purchasing power with Hardline.

We recognize that this can be a polarizing change, but we feel it is necessary. When we close access to Loadouts with a high price tag, as is the case, we force players to keep moving around the map. This works to discourage camping. While we don’t expect this change to have a major impact on the most skilled players, those who stay put and avoid quests will find themselves overloaded and falling behind quickly. This is part of how we subtly encourage card moves and combat. Plus, we feel that tidying up, being resourceful, and barely scraping by is part of what adds to the Trials’ charm and intensity. This dynamic allows for and emphasizes other facets of skills such as movement, teamwork, strategy and map knowledge. By delaying the Loadout acquisition, we’re further smoothing out player power so that any increase in it will be much more noticeable and there’s more room for those secondary skills to shine. We are closely monitoring the mode and player feedback to ensure this change is having its intended effect.

  • Gulag
    • Light machine guns (except the RPD (BOCW)) and all tactical rifles have been removed from Gulag equipment.

We feel the emphasis on submachine guns and assault rifles suits this version of the gulag better.

    • Weapons will no longer deal more than 120 damage per melee hit.
  • loot
    • Drop rates for Armor Satchel, Gas Mask and Self Revive have been reduced
    • Ground Loot XM4 (BOCW) attachments have been updated
    • Ground Loot Bullfrog (BOCW) attachments have been updated

The XM4 (BOCW) and Bullfrog (BOCW) attachments are now more closely aligned with popular builds.

Bug fixes

  • Fixed additional collision issues with various elements on Rebirth Island that allowed players to exploit/peep/shoot them.
  • Fixed an issue with the Bullfrog (BOCW) reducing recoil when firing.


Submachine guns

  • Bullfrog (BOCW)
    • ADS speed reduced by 9%
    • Movement speed reduced by 1%
    • ADS Movement speed reduced by 2%

The Bullfrog (BOCW) is a real jack of all trades. It has great mobility, effective damage range, handling and basic magazine capacity – which would often act as a free attachment. These changes, coupled with a Recoil bug fix, will bring the Bullfrog (BOCW) much closer to the competition.

  • Shotgun Bravo (BOCW)
    • Maximum damage range reduced from 4.5 to 3.5 meters
    • Lowered second damage range from 8.1 to 5.5 meters
    • Third damage range reduced from 13.2 to 9.9 meters

The Shotgun Bravo (BOCW) has been incredibly dominant for its effective damage range, magazine capacity, mobility and rate of fire. Reducing its effective damage range will make the Shotgun Bravo (BOCW) feel more like a Shotgun and less like a Sniper.
