It’s unbelievable, but true. A member of hacker group Team Xecuter, named Gary Bowser, is involved in criminal activity against Nintendo.
So Long Gary Bowser!
It seems like an April Fool’s Day joke, but nothing could be further from the truth. A man named Bowser has been sentenced to 40 months in prison for his role in selling the modified products and operating the website that contained those products. Gary Bowser was part of the hacker group Team Xecuter. They made it possible to play games for free on several consoles, including the Nintendo Switch, 3DS, the original PlayStation and the original Xbox. Nintendo has been a victim of piracy for years. It all started on the Nintendo DS with hacked game cartridges. Since then, all Nintendo consoles have been plagued by pirated software or games.
Incidentally, this is not about Doug Bowser, who works at Nintendo of America. Since 2019, he has replaced Reggie Fils-Aime as chairman of the board.
