This one Duty past was sledgehammer’s getting started, and now it’s Infinity Wards turn to take the lead.

They will likely continue to reboot the Modern Warfare series, though Activity has also confirmed that they will lead the way on war zone also.

The announcement comes from their fourth quarter financial resultswhich were published today.

“Development on this year premium and war zone experiences is led by Activision’s renowned Infinity Ward studio. The team is working on the most ambitious plan in franchise history, with industry-leading innovation and a broadly engaging franchise environment.”

“The studio expansion has continued to add development resources around the world, as plans continue for ongoing live operations and new, unannounced titles in the Duty universe.”

After the report was published, Infinite Department followed it up with a tweet hinting at what’s to come.

Duty has been an annual franchise since the release of Call of Duty 2but since the Microsoft takeover, there have been talks to scrap that schedule.

This year’s episode will keep that annual streak going for another year, though it’ll be interesting to see if it’s the first Duty game that lingers for more than a year.
