CD Projekt Red Stops Cyberpunk 2077, Witcher Sales In Russia

CD PROJEKT has halted all sales of their games in Russia and Belarus after the Russian military invasion of Ukraine, including Cyberpunk 2077 and The Witcher franchise. This includes digital sales and preventing physical copies from entering the two countries with immediate effect.

How long will CD PROJEKT’s games remain banned in Russia?

The CD PROJEKT group has decided to stop all sales of their games, such as Cyberpunk 2077 and The Witcher franchise, in Russia and Belarus starting today, March 3. The sale will stop “until further notice”. CD PROJEKT has already started working with their partners to stop digital sales of the PlayStation Store and Xbox Live Store, for example, as well as to “discontinue physical stock deliveries of CD PROJEKT Group products”. The ban also applies to the sale of all games on their GOG platform in those two countries. The statement read:

The entire CD PROJEKT Group stands for the people of Ukraine. While we are not, and do not aspire to be, a political entity that can directly influence state affairs, we believe that commercial entities, when united, have the power to effect global changes in the hearts and minds of ordinary people. to bring. We know that players in Russia and Belarus, individuals who have nothing to do with the invasion of Ukraine, will be affected by this decision, but with this action we want to further stimulate the world community to talk about what is at the heart from Europe.

The Polish developer had already made a statement about the war and was one of the first developers to make a donation to a humanitarian organization currently operating in Ukraine. Others that have done this include Bungie, 11-bit studios, Raw Fury, Digital Extremes, Crunchy Koala, and more.

In other news, Elden Ring is the biggest UK launch since 2018, excluding regular Call of Duty and FIFA payments. The game sold more than 2.5x that of Horizon Forbidden West. Elsewhere, reports claim that Quantic Dream’s Star Wars Eclipse won’t be released until 2027-2028.
