Destruction AllStars becomes free to play, according to codes found during server maintenance

Lucid Games’ Destruction All Stars may be headed for a free-to-play future, according to a number of codes unearthed during a maintenance window for a recent game update.

As reported on Reddit by user Mr_WeeWoo (great name by the way), when opening the game during the maintenance window, the names of challenges were displayed as code references as opposed to plain text. These codes contain the prefix BS_F2P_CHALLENGE, indicating that the PS5 title could take on a free-to-play model.

Destruction AllStars was released as part of the February 2021 PlayStation Plus lineup, although it didn’t attract much attention even then, so at this point you have to wonder if F2P would have much of an impact.

In April, Lucid Games released a paid version of Destruction AllStars, which costs $19.99. You can read our full Destruction AllStars review here.
