Devil May Cry Animated Series Has Multiple Seasons

Producer Adi Shankar revealed in a recent interview with IGN that the 2018 announced Devil May Cry: The animated series will have multiple seasons and the first season will have eight episodes. In addition, the beloved characters Dante and Vergil will star.

Shankar said the scripts for season 1 are complete and he is looking at a “multi-season arc”. He also joked that Chris Pratt will not voice any characters.

“The entire team, both on the management side and the creative side, has been so incredibly supportive and courteous,” said Shankar. “[Hiroyuki] Kobayashi-san was great. It is a real pleasure to work with Capcom. Their character library is unlike anything they’ve collected.”

Speaking of adapting video games into television series, Shankar (who is behind Netflix’s Castlevania also) said:

Just as there is no one-size-fits-all approach to adapting a book to a movie, and just as there is no one right way to create a cover song, there is no one-size-fits-all. approach to adapting, translating, or extending games to another medium. Castlevania had a team of people from head to toe who were fans of IP and wanted animation to be taken seriously as a medium and not just as a genre. When we launched Season 1 in 2017, it felt like a battle to be noticed or even recognized by the mainstream. The fact that Castlevania not only generated a spin-off, but essentially spawned a whole vertical of adult-focused animation content for Netflix is insane. It’s a matter of being in the right place at the right time, and I’m honored to be a part of this ride.

Devil May Cry: The Animated Series still in production.
