Elden Ring publisher Bandai Namco Entertainment has acknowledged the ongoing save data issues for the PS5 version of the fantasy RPG and has promised to fix the issues in a future update.
If the PS5 console turns off unexpectedly while playing a game or in rest mode, saved data may not be saved correctly. We are aware of the cause of this issue and are working on a patch to correct it, but until the patch is released you will need to manually save your game by exiting the game periodically.
Game data is saved correctly when you exit the game by opening the system menu with the Options button and selecting ‘End Game’.” So for now, if you’re playing on the PS5, make sure you take the time to head back to the main menu. It’s a small step to keep your progress.
