No one can blame Embracer Group for resting on its laurels. In announcing their financial results for the last quarter, the company revealed that they have 216 games in development between their many studios and publishers. Of those games, there are more than 25 AAA games that they want to release by March 2026 at the latest.
Which AAA games are in development at Embracer?
While 216 games are in development, only 56 have been announced. This means that many of the AAA games have yet to be announced and they may not necessarily come to PlayStation either. From those we know, Deep Silver has Saints Row arriving on August 23. They’re also still working on Dead Island 2, and if the conference call is anything to go by, there’s a chance we’ll see this game before the end of fiscal year 2023 (before the end of March 2023).
Prime Matter has Payday 3 in development, although it will likely take a few more years. Saber Interactive is working on seven AAA games, including Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2, which is due out later this year. Aspyr Media has Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic – Remake, but this is also likely to be in a few years. Finally, Gearbox has ten AAA games in the works, including Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands, which will be released on March 25.
Plenty of other Embracer titles will be out soon. March also brings with it Elex II, Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous, Shadow Warrior 3 and Monster Energy Supercross 5. Road 96 will follow in April, while Evil Dead: The Game will be released in May. Spellforce III Reforced was delayed until June. During the conference call, Milestone CEO Luisa Bixio has also confirmed that the company has obtained the Superbike World Championship license and that the first SBK game will be released in July.
Embracer also had some successes from their recent and most popular titles. Metro Exodus recently hit 6 million sales, while Hot Wheels Unleashed has hit 1 million sales and is Milestone’s most successful game to date. Over 2 million copies of the Borderlands franchise were sold in the past quarter, while Borderlands 3 has passed 15 million lifetime sales. Deep Rock Galactic doubled its player count after being downloaded over 9 million times on PlayStation Plus. The bad news was that despite positive attention from fans and critics, Chorus fell short of management’s expectations.
In other news, Ubisoft has confirmed that Skull & Bones is now a multiplayer-first game. Elsewhere, ANNO: Mutationem will be released next month.
