Ex-Call Of Duty Community Strategist Says Franchise Needs ‘Revitalization’

Former Infinity Ward community strategist Robert Bowling has called for a revitalization of the Call of Duty franchise, something he was heavily involved in between 2006 and 2012.

Bowling took to Twitter to share his thoughts on the multimillion-selling first-person franchise, suggesting a major overhaul is needed.

It’s time to build from the studs. We need more than iteration, we need revitalization. A focus back on core gameplay and not content gateways. We used to treat our players as a community and not as consumers. We brought them to the fold for map feedback, not market feedback.

Bowling was very active within the Call of Duty community by the nature of his job and understood the series very well, so if he thinks it needs a kick in the butt, he’s probably right.

Speaking of Call of Duty, next year’s entry will presumably take the form of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II.
