Explore the various biomes and seasons of Mexico with Forza Horizon 5

While we can’t deny that flashy supercars and off-roaders are the stars of the series Forza Horizon, the varied environments that are based on real life are what really make the games stand out. Whether you sprint while exploring Australia in Forza Horizon 3 or leave a whirlwind of leaves during your drive through the English countryside on a cool autumn day in Forza Horizon 4We all have great memories exploring the vibrant worlds created by the developers at Playground Games. With Forza Horizon 5, the team has its sights set on the most diverse place yet: Mexico.

“From the beginning we knew that we wanted this Forza Horizon was the largest to date. However, in addition to wanting to create the largest, we also felt the need to offer as much diversity and contrast as possible, ”said Mike Brown, Creative Director of Forza Horizon at Playground Games. “Mexico is almost like having the entire world in one country, with snow-capped peaks, rainforests, epic canyons, beautiful beaches, ancient architecture, and modern cities. When you add the incredible culture of Mexico, the music, the art, the history, the people, there is no more exciting place for the Horizon Festival ”.

The Playground Games team divided Mexico from Forza Horizon 5 across 11 distinct and unique biomes, each of which was painstakingly researched and recreated by the team. “Our team collected references to the location and created conceptual images to highlight the beauty and unique details of each biome. We use techniques such as photogrammetry to recreate the environment with great precision ”, said Don Arceta, art director of Forza Horizon 5 at Playground Games. “Likewise, we managed to bring the beauty of the world through the wonderful sights and sounds that we find in all areas. The goal of this artistic process was to make you feel like you were really there. “

Seasons also returns to Forza Horizon 5, with a new layer of diversity and complexity for previous games of Forza Horizon. What’s more, each of the 11 unique biomes will transition through the seasons differently. For example, spring is synonymous with the rainy season in the jungles and farmlands of Mexico, while summer could bring intense tropical thunderstorms along the coasts. The seasons of Forza Horizon 5 guarantee that the environments of Mexico will be constantly evolving, encouraging you to explore the world in its entirety as the seasons change.

Now, what about the biomes themselves? Spread out on a map about one and a half times the size of Forza Horizon 4, the 11 biomes represent the most diverse map ever to be part of Forza Horizon. Join me to take a look at them:

You probably recognize this biome, as it appeared in the presentation of Forza Horizon 5 in June. Explore this environment filled with rock formations with unique striation patterns, many of which have eroded into massive rock towers found only in canyons. Fun fact: each of the biomes has a unique audio. The canyons echo more than anywhere else.

Tropical coast

This might be what comes to mind when you think of a tropical vacation in Mexico. A place full of palm trees, seagulls, white sand beaches and calm waters, something like a postcard come true. At least that’s the case until storm season hits, completely changing the landscape. Beware of flying palm trees!

Unlike the flatter or drier farmlands found in some of the previous games of Forza Horizon, these rolling hills are full of lush greenery, fruit trees, and wide, shallow rivers. Break through the fences and get ready to explore picturesque farms while you are here.

Arid hills

As you can imagine from the name, this biome is full of dry grasses on rolling hills and plains that will provide you with plenty of open spaces to drive if you fancy traveling off-road. One of the most interesting features of this biome is a lake that actually dries up during the winter, great for giving you shortcuts through fast passages and secret areas.

Full of lush, dense vegetation and towering trees that filter the sun’s rays with their leaves, this biome also has impressive waterfalls and winding rivers. You will also find a series of hidden temples in this area, all based on actual locations in Mexico.

Living desert

For the first time in the series Forza Horizon, Forza Horizon 5 features a cactus desert full of towering saguaros. Explore a series of rock formations and rock stacks unique to the area. As the name implies, this biome is teeming with life and boasts a wide variety of flowers and wildlife.

Rocky shore

Although the tropical coast has many trees and vegetation, this environment has a completely different atmosphere. As there are not many trees in this place, you will enjoy an unparalleled view of the ocean and wonderful sunsets by the sea. As an added benefit and if you are a golf lover, you can explore a golf course.

Sand desert

Filled with towering sand dunes, this biome is perfect for buggy rides and exploring the magnificent desert. If you don’t like the idea of having sand in your shoes, we have good news for you, as many of the roads in this area have long straights, so you will have endless opportunities to explore this area.

While the swamps don’t seem like the best place for a run, the shallow waters of this biome definitely are. The swamps also have many mangrove trees with very thick, interconnected roots. In fact, during your walks in this area, you can break these roots to allow your car to cross difficult-to-access areas.

Urban City of Guanajuato

As in many cities in Mexico, there is amazing architecture and vibrant colors wherever you look. However, unlike many places, Guanajuato is a labyrinth of hills and tunnels, which will make your career in this city something really fun. As in the canyons, you will hear many echoes bouncing down the narrow roads of the city.

This is another of the novelties of the series Forza Horizon. This huge mountain is located right next to the Living Desert. It is a high-rise volcano, so driving to the top will be a unique experience that will reward you when you reach the peak. This is also the only place in the game where you will find snow, so be sure to pack a warm jacket.

We hope you enjoyed this look at the various biomes that you will find in Forza Horizon 5. We are excited to introduce you to the largest and most diverse open world ever seen in a game of Forza Horizon, with a vibrant and constantly evolving landscape and unlimited driving action in hundreds of the best cars in the world.

Get ready to explore Mexico starting November 9, when Forza Horizon 5 launches on Xbox Series X | S, Windows, Steam, and Xbox Game Pass for Console, PC, and Cloud Gaming (Beta).
