GTA 6, Grand Theft Auto VI Confirmed

Rockstar has finally confirmed that they are working on a new Grand Theft Auto game. The title everyone is calling GTA 6 is “in active development” but there is no further news yet. However, they have finally confirmed a release date for the PS5 version of Grand Theft Auto V and the standalone GTA Online.

A brand new GTA game

Rockstar’s confirmation revealed nothing but that a new game is in development. We don’t even know if the game will be called Grand Theft Auto VI for sure. This is what they had to say:

With GTAV’s unprecedented longevity, we know that many of you have been asking us about a new entry in the Grand Theft Auto series. With every new project we embark on, our goal is always to go significantly beyond what we’ve delivered before – and we’re pleased to confirm that active development for the next entry in the Grand Theft Auto series is well underway. . We look forward to sharing more once we’re done, so stay tuned to the Rockstar Newswire for official details.

The one thing they’ve confirmed for sure is that both the standalone version of GTA Online and the PS5 version of Grand Theft Auto V will be released on March 15th. Both games will make full use of the PS5 for both graphics and other features, including up to 4K resolution, 60 fps, HDR, ray tracing, upgrades to textures and drawing distances, improved load times, 3D audio and haptic feedback. Those looking to upgrade from PS4 to PS5 can transfer their GTA Online characters and GTA V story progress at launch through a one-time migration process. Since GTA Online will be free for PS5 players for the first 3 months, this is definitely something to keep in mind.

GTA Online is getting improvements for all new players. Those who want to jump right into the mode no longer need to complete the GTA V story prologue. Instead, there’s a brand new GTA Online tutorial with a Career Builder. Here, players get instant access to one of four companies: Biker, Executive, Nightclub Owner or Gunrunner. They then get a cash injection to buy a property, a high-end vehicle and suitable weapons to get them off to a good start.

All current players can choose to reboot at any time and use the Career Builder. They also have access to the new Hao’s Special Works car shop on PS5. In this shop, players can upgrade five new vehicles and five existing vehicles for “elite driving performance” that takes full advantage of the console’s capabilities. Finally, the Short Trips introduced with the brand new The Contract content can now be accessed from the Jobs list without having to complete the story missions in The Contract.

In other news, Ghostwire Tokyo will be a PS5 and PC exclusive until at least 2023. Of course, since the game was published by Bethesda, it’s inevitable that it will eventually appear on Xbox consoles. Elsewhere, Infinity Ward has teased the next installment of the Call of Duty franchise.
