Last of Us Remake Rumor: Naughty Dog Has Multiple Projects in Development

Neil Druckmann, co-president of Naughty Dog, made a brief appearance at Sony’s CES presentation to confirm that the studio has multiple game projects in development and that they’d like to share them with us. According to noted leaker Tom Henderson, a common rumor is that one of those projects is a remake of The last of us.

When will The Last of Us remake be released?

According to Henderson, The last of us remake is nearing completion and is expected to be released in the second half of 2022. The game is presumably in development for the PlayStation 5. This isn’t the first time we’ve been told about a remake of the game, as it first surfaced under reports of mishandling from an in-house studio called The Visual Arts Service Group. . The project started in that in-house studio and they even completed a prototype of the game to present to Sony. However, Sony initially thought the remake was too expensive before they reconsidered their stance and handed the project over to Naughty Dog.

The other rumored project in development is: The Last of Us II Director’s Cut although there are no details about it at the moment. A third project in progress at Naughty Dog is The last of us multiplayer project. The developer confirmed its existence last year, but begged fans for more time to work on the project before it was officially unveiled. None of these projects currently have a release window. Of course there is also Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection that will be released on January 28 on PS5 and at a later date on PC.

In other news, Sony went to CES 2022 to properly unveil the PSVR 2 headset and new Sense controllers for the PlayStation 5. In the same presentation, they also unveiled the much-rumored Horizon VR project, now officially named Horizon Call of the Mountain and exclusive to PSVR 2.
