Marvel’s Avengers Adds Paid XP Boosts Despite Square Enix Saying It Wouldn’t Happen

Square Enix and Crystal Dynamics have revealed that: Marvel’s Avengers now supports the ability to spend real money on XP and resource boosts.

The superhero title recently launched for Xbox Game Pass added the ability to purchase consumables with credit, which can only be obtained by spending your own hard-earned cash. These purchases are used to temporarily increase how much XP you earn or to increase the amount of resources collected.

People aren’t happy about this as it goes back to a statement from Senior Community Manager, Meagan Marine, back at E3 2019: “Our promise to the community is that we don’t use random loot boxes or pay-to-win scenarios. will have .”

This was reiterated again in September 2020 by the game’s official blog:
