Miles Morales PS5 and PS4 sales continue to break records

Mat Piscatella of the NPD Group recently shared video game industry sales data for January 2022 for the United States, which showed that PlayStation 5 was the best-selling console of the month. Among all his tweets lay another important piece of information: Spider-Man: Miles Morales expansion from Insomniac Games for the PS5 and PS4 is Sony’s third biggest release in the country since 1995 in terms of dollar sales! Miles Morales is now only behind 2018’s Spider-Man and God of War.

How many copies has Spider-Man: Miles Morales sold?

Sony has not released any sales data lately. We got the last official figure almost a year ago, according to which Miles Morales had sold more than 6.5 million copies within eight months. We can only imagine what the revenue looks like. According to NPD, the expansion was the sixth best-selling game of 2021 in the US and maintained its position in the top chart in January.

Opinion: Transferring Spider-Man to Insomniac Games was an excellent decision

Zamena writes… Spider-Man is undoubtedly one of the world’s most popular superheroes, but many superhero games have suffered from poor sales in the past due to poor execution (sorry, Marvel’s Avengers). And since Miles Morales is an expansion rather than a full-fledged game, this is quite an achievement for a studio that produces hit after hit. Sony has to pat itself on the back repeatedly for buying Insomniac Games!

In other news, former Battlefield developers have criticized Battlefield 2042’s design choices, and Days Gone director once wanted to make an Uncharted game featuring a young Sully.
