Miles Morales sells 6.5 million units, different numbers

Not only has Sony reached the impressive milestone of 10 million PS5 consoles sold since its launch in November, the publisher also announced new sales figures for four of its PlayStation Studios games. Among which Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales of which 6.5 million copies have now been sold, and Ratchet & Clank: Rift Part, which sold 1.1 million copies in just over a month.

Spider-Man: Miles Morales was released on the launch day for the PlayStation 5 and had already sold 4.1 million copies by the end of 2020. Sony has now released updated figures showing that the game had sold more than 6.5 million units by July 18. Ghost of Tsushima and The Last of Us Part II in the United States, a remarkable achievement for a title that is an expansion rather than a new entry in the franchise.

Another more recent release from Insomniac Games, Ratchet & Clank: Rift Part, has also sold very well since its release. In just 37 days since it was released, the game has sold over 1.1 million copies, marking a triumphant return for everyone’s favorite lombax and his robot companion. rupture Part was the best-selling game on PlayStation Store in June and the best-selling game in June in the US.

Return Developer Housemarque is one of the newest teams to join PlayStation Studios and their title got a specific mention as well. Sony had already dubbed the game a “megahit” and a “successful new IP”, and has sold more than 560,000 copies since its release in late April. The developer will now look to create “even bigger and more ambitious” titles as they use the rogue-style shooter as a stepping stone for their next project.

Finally, MLB The Show 21 has become the fastest-selling title in franchise history. The game has managed to rack up 2 million sales since going multi-platform with a simultaneous release on PlayStation and Xbox consoles. However, MLB’s decision to put the game on Xbox Game Pass also seems to be paying off: more than 4 million players have tried the game since its release in April.

PlayStation Studios will have more exclusive titles in the future that are likely to be successful for Sony as well. Among which Gran Turismo 7, Horizon Forbidden West, and the new one god of war title. Meanwhile, Bethesda’s death loop and Ghostwire: Tokyo will be released exclusively on PS5 for a limited time. Other great hitters that Sony thinks will do well include Battlefield 2042, Far Cry 6, and Kena: Bridge of Ghosts.
