New Line Cinema has just confirmed Mortal Kombat 2. Despite the poor box office, the video game saga will continue to make movies.
It’s official! dead line just confirmed that New Line Cinema has officially given the green light to Mortal Kombat 2, the sequel to the famous video game saga. The person in charge of writing the script will be Jeremy slater, writer of Marvel Studios for the series of moon knight. He has also written for Netflix the tv series The Umbrella Academy, also a superhero story.
The first part was the most popular premiere of Warner Bros. Pictures Y hbo max last year. At least according to the data revealed by Business Insider. It earned a total of over 3.8 million US household views in its opening weekend alone. It also made $83.6 million worldwide. In terms of streaming views, it was somewhat ahead of Godzilla vs Kong (3.6 million) and well above Suicide Squad (2.8 million).
The details of the plot Mortal Kombat 2 follow are understandably under wraps, but it is expected to bring back the vast majority of characters. Maybe not the entire original cast, but more than half of the cast. The video game franchise will also most likely add new characters to its story.
