Naughty dog works on multiple projects, but ‘only one gets the lion’s attention at any time’

Naughty Dog’s co-president has revealed that the company has multiple projects in development, but it is struggling with the process as some have barely scrapped pre-production status.

During the Game Maker’s Notebook as part of AIAS, Evan Wells, who recently confirmed that the company does not have a new Jak & Daxter title in development, revealed that there is only one project that will get the lion’s share of the company’s focus.

He revealed that the situation reflects when Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception and The last of us were in production at the same time and that the first “resources stole away from The Last of Us, and we never got to the point where we had two full productions.”

I would say we don’t have that even today. We certainly have several projects, but there is only one that gets the lion’s share of the attention at any time.

We don’t have two projects involving hundreds of people. We have one [project] and then some that are in pre-production, or maybe just sneaking out of pre-production, but will have to wait for the main focus to finish before we remove everyone from that project.
