New Battlefield Game Is Said To Be Some Kind Of Hero Shooter

amid the Battlefield franchise is undergoing a major upheaval and the reshuffle/departure of DICE staffers, a new rumor has it that the next Battlefield game will delve into the hero shooter area.

This news comes from noted insider and trusted leaker Tom Henderson, who tweeted that ahead of any recent developments, he learned about plans for a potential hero shooter. He asked his followers to take his information with a grain of salt, but given Henderson’s history and accuracy, we wouldn’t be quick to discount anything.

“The next Battlefield title is meant to be a kind of hero shooter — it’s not removal of specialists, but an improvement on them,” Henderson wrote.Battlefield 2042 was always meant to be a stepping stone to a battle royale ‘hero shooter’ – it was just poorly executed. Of course you have to say that you should take it with a grain of salt, but given that I heard about this stuff last week and with all the announcements over the past few days, it makes perfect sense. BF 2042 changed direction in the beginning, but I don’t see them changing that?”

Battlefield 2042 has had a rocky start, but despite this, it is rumored that sales exceeded four million in its first week. And while it has been panned by critics and players alike, the game boasted twice as many players as its predecessor at the same point after launch (though Steam numbers suggest a significant drop since then).

Nevertheless, Respawn Entertainment’s Vince Zampella is now the new one Battlefield boss, and Halo designer Marcus Lehto is tasked with building the new Battlefield universe. It remains to be seen what the future holds for the franchise.
