Nintendo adds SRD to the company

Despite the fact that Nintendo is not really involved in major acquisitions, they seem to want to ensure that their partners stay with them.

Nintendo has acquired SRD. You may not have heard of this one, but it’s a supporting studio. That’s how it’s helped with Animal Crossing: New Horizons and The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, but also Mario Kart Tour for smartphones. The developer also participated in some experimental projects such as Nintendo Labo and Game Builder Garage.

The studio will officially become part of Nintendo as of April 1. It is incidentally the second studio in just over a year. Last year it acquired Luigi’s Mansion 3 developer Next Level Games. This studio is currently working on Mario Strikers: Battle League.
