PlatinumGames seems open to a takeover

It is not the case that there is already a candidate, but PlatinumGames would not try to avoid a possible acquisition of a larger party.

In a conversation with VGC Atsushi Inaba reports that PlatinumGames would not shy away from a takeover by another company. The CEO of the company behind games like Bayonetta, NieR: Automata and Astral Chains thinks the most important thing is that the team keep their freedom.

“The most important thing for us is that we have the freedom to make games that we want to make. From what I’m hearing about recent purchases, I don’t think Microsoft is going to micromanage Activision and take away all of their freedom… I don’t think it’s going to be that kind of working relationship.”
I think there’s going to be a lot of mutual respect and I think Activision can continue to do what they do best. That is also what is most important to us, whatever form that takes for us and our company. I wouldn’t just reject anything as long as our freedom is respected.”

By the way, he does not say that a takeover is already being worked on or that there is any interest at all. He only seems to be reacting to the latest developments in the market, noting that this isn’t necessarily a negative thing.

What would you consider a good party that PlatinumGames could possibly take over? In terms of exclusives, the Japanese company has already meant a lot to Nintendo, right?
