If there was any doubt that the console wars were over, January should have solved that problem. The takeover wars have started and are in full swing.
We know to expect more acquisitions from virtually most of the major players in the industry, especially play station, and a recent report indicates where that may come from.
In conversation with website VGC, analyst dr. Serkan Totochief executive officer of consultancy Kantan games believes Play stations next acquisition could probably be a Japanese studio.
dr. Toto doesn’t specify which ones they might go after, but notes that: Sony in this case has a huge advantage over Microsoft†
The cultural barriers that Microsoft should overcome when buying a Japanese studio are just not among them Play station.
†Sony has the home advantage, of course, and some of the challenges that come with it Microsoft would not apply to Sony† It doesn’t have to be one of the listed powerhouses, but I believe Sony in any case, is considering moving to Japan soon.”
after the big one Bungie announcement, we may have to wait a little longer before we hear of more acquisitions. But make no mistake, they will definitely happen.
