Ampere Analysis’ Piers Harding-Rolls has predicted that PS5 will sell the Xbox Series X/S at a staggering 2:1 this year, with Sony’s latest home console expected to sell around 18 million units.
By comparison, Microsoft’s console family, which includes the X and S versions of the latest Xbox hardware, is expected to sell about nine million units. However, the Nintendo Switch is expected to beat both systems, with the hybrid platform expected to sell 21 million units.
It seems that the availability of PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series consoles will slowly improve over the year and our expectation is that Sony will surpass Microsoft two-to-one. But actually the best selling console on the market is Nintendo Switch at 21 million units, and that will be driven by demand for the new Nintendo Switch OLED.
