PS5 spotted upside down in now-deleted Sony ad

A new 30-second Sony spot features a PS5 that is curiously upside down. The ad is for Sony as a company and emphasizes the slogan ‘Inspiring Everyday’. The content of the video focuses specifically on stories told through video games god of war in this case, and when a PS5 is seen in the case, it is clearly upside down, with the drive slot along the top of the unit. The inverted PS5 was spotted by Nibel on Twitter.

The ad begins with a father putting his son to bed, when the son asks his father to tell him a story. His mind flashes to the adventures of Kratos and Atreus in god of war, and he begins to recant their story to find the highest peak. When the son has fallen asleep, the father goes to the sofa to relax and continue playing god of war on his PS5, which is horizontal in the entertainment center, upside down. (While I won’t lie, I keep my PS5s vertical, so my take on what “upside down” meant was very different before seeing the screenshot for myself.) “Inspiring Everday” flashes on the screen before snapping to the Sony logo .

Sony’s original tweet with the ad has now been removed, most likely to get the reversed PS5 out. Oddly enough, this isn’t the first time an inverted PS5 has been spotted and quickly removed by official Sony channels. Head of PlayStation Studios Hermen Hulst had his PS5 upside down in a video he shared on Twitter. It was quickly removed and re-uploaded with the PS5 cut from the frame, but the internet remembers it. It probably means nothing, but it’s curious that this is twice now that the PS5 has not only been seen upside down, but has been quickly removed as if it were something worth hiding. We’ll have to wait and see if the ad returns with any edits to remove the reverse PS5.
