Review of Uncharted: The best movie of a video game in history

Uncharted opens in theaters on February 11. Movie based on the popular Naughty Dog franchise, starring Tom Holland as Nathan Drake

Tom Holland brings Nathan Drake to life in Uncharted, a film based on the popular video game franchise from the company Naughty Dogs. The film is directed by Ruben Fleischer, responsible for films such as Zombieland 1 and 2, or Venom. Accompanying the cast are Holland, Mark Wahlberg as Sully, Sophia Ali as Chloe Frazer, tati gabrielle as Braddock and Antonio Banderas giving life to the villain of the story as the ruthless Santiago Moncada.

The adventure begins when Sully approaches Nate, a young New York bartender who steals from his customers, looking for information on the greatest lost treasure in history. Sully tells him the legend of the explorer Ferdinand Magellan that he already knows so well.

Magellan’s famous voyage was financed by the House of Moncada, a Spanish family over 800 years old that in the past also donated money to the Crusades, the Inquisition and even Franco’s fascism in the 1930s. The Moncadas agreed to finance the expedition if Magellan stole the gold thought to exist in the Philippines, a treasure worth more than $5 billion today.

Sully had been looking for clues with Sam, Nate’s brother whom he hasn’t seen in years. But Sam disappears and Sully approaches Nate hoping that he has some information that his brother passed on to him.

uncharted review

A film that brings the best action and adventure cinema to the big screen

Uncharted It is a film designed for all viewers and not just for fans of the franchise. Naughty Dogs, that if they will recognize details taken directly from the console and some easter eggs that will surely delight more than one. Despite not physically resembling his video game counterpart, Holland fits perfectly into this origin story that reveals Nate’s beginnings and his friendship with Sully.

Holland has acknowledged that his role is very different from that of Peter Parker in spider-manhad to gain more weight to give life to Nate and that after finishing the filming of the film he went directly to work in No Way Home and Amy Pascal told him that he had changed, and that he walked like a man. That change is also very visible in the film for fans of Holland as the wall-crawler. Here he does a more physical job, some action scenes he did without specialists. He received some hard kicks during the filming from his partner Tati Gabrielle, since she had knowledge of martial arts.

as history Uncharted It’s entertaining, and it flies by, with a good balance between humor and action. Yes, it is true that some scenes can remind us of movies like The Search, The Adventures of Indiana Jones or the goonies(from which he has drunk the most in my opinion).

The actors in general are great, although I would highlight Tati Gabrielle as Santiago Moncada’s henchman who is brutal.

As for the direction, Fleischer has also done a great job in bringing the video game to the big screen. Focused on bringing a good movie and not a good adaptation. A mistake that many make when making a movie based on video games.

Definitely. If you are a fan of video games Uncharted or simply a lover of the purest action and adventure movies. You can’t miss it, and don’t forget to watch the two post-credits scenes that are included at the end of the movie.
