Siege-Free Weekend now active with double battle points

Rainbow Six: Siege now has a free entry weekend. Starting today, August 13, and running through August 16, PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 players will get free access to the game. In anticipation of the current season coming to an end soon, they have also revealed the new Operator that will be joining the game soon: Osa.

The free play weekend runs through August 16 at 4am PDT. Those who decide to buy the game after that will keep all their progress. Those who already own the game won’t lose this weekend either and will benefit from double Battle Points as they try to get the North Star Battle Pass before it expires on August 30. The first-ever Battle XP bonus will run throughout the weekend and all points-earning activities are included.

One of the modes players can try out is the limited-time Containment event. Those who play five games of this mode before August 17 will unlock the Vigil Bundle for Rainbow Six Extraction through the Ubisoft Connect service. The mode also got a very short hotfix yesterday that prevented players from being killed during the prep phase, and also closed the exploit where attackers could shoot the main nest from the roof.

Year six season three kicks off in September. The new Operator introduced this season is an attacker named Anja “Osa” Janković. She was recruited into Nighthaven, where she founded their “Quantum Concepts & Robotics” unit. Specializing in electromechanics, military engineering and robotics, she wields a deployable Talon-8 Clear Shield that can dig itself into window frames and other surfaces. Her full reveal won’t be until August 16, but her introductory trailer shows a Crystal Guard soldier looking more than ready to go into battle:

Content will keep rolling in Siege as Ubisoft believes a sequel is not necessary and they can keep this game running for a while longer. As soon as we know more about the new season, we’ll let you know.
