Sniper Elite 5 aims for release in 2022

Rebellion today revealed that its award-winning Sniper Elite franchise will return in 2022 with the release of Sniper Elite 5. Sniper Elite 5 will be available simultaneously on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 4 and 5.

In the game, elite sniper Karl Fairburne travels to 1944 France to stop Operation Kraken. To celebrate the announcement, Rebellion has released the first trailer for the game. This trailer consists entirely of in-game footage.

As part of a covert operation by the US Rangers to weaken the Atlantic Wall fortifications along the coast of Brittany, Karl makes contact with the French Resistance. They soon discover a secret Nazi project that threatens to end the war before the Allies can invade Europe: Operation Kraken. Karl’s mission is to take out the high-ranking Nazi officers and end Operation Kraken once and for all.

The new game maps are the largest and most exciting in the franchise’s history and based on real locations from 1944 France, while the new traversal system gives players more options to take out targets as they see fit. Thanks to the improved co-op gameplay options, it’s now more interesting than ever to do this together with a friend.

Sniper Elite 5 builds on the unparalleled tactical sniping experience the franchise is known for, complete with realistic bullet ballistics and improved kill cam that take this genre-defining feature to the next level. The new customization options allow players to customize guns, other weapons and ammunition to suit any mission and playstyle.

  • Extended Campaign – Using photogrammetry, real locations are captured to create living, immersive environments, with multiple infiltration and extraction points and kill-list targets giving each mission a new spin. Take on the Nazi conspiracy alone or team up with a partner, using enhanced co-op features to share ammunition and items, issue commands, or heal each other.
  • Advanced Shooting Physics and Movement Abilities – use ziplines, slide down ramps and shuffle along ledges to reach the perfect vantage point – or sneak past guards. Take into account the characteristics of your guns and different barrels, along with gravity, wind and heart rate, as you aim your sights at the target.
  • tinkering at a high level – use workbenches to customize and upgrade almost every aspect of your weapon. Change scopes, flasks, barrels, magazines and more. Rifles, secondary weapons, and pistols all have a huge variety of options. In addition, you can select the ammunition that suits your target, from armor-piercing to non-lethal.
  • Invasion mode drop-in PVP – you can invade another player’s campaign as an Axis sniper for a deadly cat-and-mouse game, bringing a whole new dimension to hunting your prey. But you can also call for help as Karl and get a second sniper in your game to help you out of a tricky situation.
  • Competitive Multiplayer Mode – Customize your character and gear and earn XP, medals and ribbons in competitive 16-player battles that will test your marksmanship. If co-op is more your style, Survival mode lets you team up with up to 3 other players to battle waves of enemies.
  • Improved kill cam – The signature X-ray kill cam returns, more realistic and creepy than ever, to show you the true destructive power of every shot. Watch bullets deflect as they hit bones and create unpredictable paths through enemy bodies. SMGs and pistols can also trigger kill cams, allowing you to watch multiple shots hit in dramatic slow motion.
