Sonic Frontiers PS5 takes full advantage of new hardware

“We are excited to bring the game to next-gen consoles as both the visual and technical gameplay elements will be taken to the next level on the latest platforms,” said Takashi Iizuka of Sonic Team. “As games are released natively to the next generation, it’s exciting to be a part of the wave that will truly deliver on the full potential of these consoles.”

Sega has yet to reveal what Sonic FrontierIts next-gen versions will bring, but has said the team has created new environments, new features, and a “totally new type of open-zone experience.”

What the open zone of Sonic Frontiers means

As GameMe points out, Sonic Team has been very careful with its language when it comes to Sonic Limits. The game is described as an open-zone experience, but the developer has yet to explain exactly what that entails.

“We don’t have much to say about the environment yet, but stay tuned for more details this year,” Iizuka said when GameMe questioned him about the open zone aspect. “We focused on bringing sonic to the next level and make sure he is fully represented as the character fans know and love, while still making his new form exciting,” he teased.

Sonic Limits will release sometime in Q4 2022 for PlayStation 4 and 5, Xbox One and Series X/S, and PC.

In other news, a European retailer would warn customers against buying PS5s because of the Xbox Activision deal, and Cyberpunk 2077‘s PS5 version has appeared on PSN servers.
