Sony is willing to spend $1.2 billion of the Bungie deal on incentives for bungie developers to stay

When Sony announced that they are in the process of acquiring Bungie, it shocked the industry. However, after the shock wore off, it became increasingly clear how strategic and beneficial this deal is for both sides.

In Sony’s they benefit so much Bungies expertise in live service games. Bungie gains access to Sony’s resources without feeling limited in their creativity.

It’s a win-win, but Sony wants to make sure that the Bungie it wants to buy is the same one that will be there when the deal closes.

Against that purpose, Sony is willing to dedicate oneself $1.2 billion worth of the $3.6 billion totally only for incentives for Bungie employees who stay with the company.

The platform manufacturer confirmed so much in its Q3 FY2021 earnings, as spotted by website TweakTown.

Hopefully many of Bungies developers can stay, especially given the collaborative nature of PlayStation Studios.

to have Bungie sharing their expertise with other first party studios and vice versa can only mean better games for everyone, and that’s something to be excited about.
