Soul Hackers 2 PS5 PS4 Release Date

After teasing a revival of the Soul Hackers franchise with a mysterious countdown site, Atlus has announced that Soul Hackers 2 will be released on PS5 and PS4 in August. The RPG is produced and directed by Eiji Ishida (Shin Megami Tensei: Strange Journey, Devil Summoner: Soul Hackers, Shin Megami Tensei IV) and Mitsuru Hirata (Radiant Historia, Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE).

When is Soul Hackers 2 coming out?

Soul Hackers 2 will be released on August 25 for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One and PC in Japan and will follow on August 26 worldwide. The story, translated by Gematsu, is set in the near future during a war between evil summoners. Ringo and her team are Aions, creatures who watch over the world and can sense an approaching apocalypse. The Aions go into the human world to find the two people needed to save the world, only to discover that they have already fallen victim to the war. They bring the two victims to life with their special Soul Hack ability, but can they still prevent the end of the world?

The brand new story appears to be unrelated to Devil Summoner: Soul Hackers, a game originally published on the SEGA Saturn in 1997. Although it was later ported to PlayStation, neither version made it outside of Japan. English-speaking players were finally able to try the game out on the Nintendo 3DS in 2012. The good news is that Soul Hackers 2 will be released worldwide a day after the title arrives in Japan.

In other news: Final Fantasy XIV will receive support for another ten years. In the near future, graphical improvements will be made and players will soon be able to enjoy more content as a solo player alongside a crew of AI NPCs as the Trust Support system expands. Elsewhere, there are rumors that an RPG based on Avatar: The Last Airbender is in development for consoles.
