System Shock TV Series Adaptation Taps Mortal Kombat Writer to Write & Direct

System shockfor those who don’t know is a classic storytelling game that inspired groundbreaking titles like bioshock. Now, years after seeing a System shock game of any kind, fans have an adaptation of the TV series to look forward to.

The news comes from the website IGNafter it was announced that the series would be streaming exclusively on Binge.

Behind the project is Greg Russo, who will both write and direct the new TV series. He will also executive produce with Allan Ungar, Stephen Kick and Larry Kuperman by his side.

While this isn’t Russo’s first attempt at a video game adaptation, it’s his first time in the director’s chair.

“I am honored to have the opportunity to work with the fantastic team at Binge and Nightdive Studios to bring the iconic System Shock franchise to life. I’ve been waiting for the right opportunity to make my directorial debut, and I’ve finally found it.”

Look for the System shock TV adaptation on Binge’s all-new streaming service, intended to be made exclusively for gamers, launching later this year.
