The native PS5 version of Cyberpunk 2077 will use “all new features and technical capabilities” of the console

Cyberpunk 2077 will get a native PS5 version in 2021, which will be free to all players who own the game on PS4. Now we’ve learned that this version will make full use of the PlayStation 5, likely including features like DualSense and Activity Card support.

In an interview with Bloomberg TV, CD Projekt RedCo-founder and co-CEO of Marcin Iwinski, stated the following in an interview:

The consoles [PS5 and Xbox Series S/X] are much faster. And then we’ll schedule a next-generation free update for anyone who has a next-generation console. So if you buy the game now you can play it on next-gen. It works great because of the higher capabilities of the new consoles. But then with the next generation update we will use all the functionalities or the new features and technical capabilities of the new platforms. “

This is great news and hopefully means we will see as much use as possible of the PS5’s unique features, although this next generation upgrade has likely been delayed as CD Projekt Red will work on fixing bugs and issues with the main game.

Cyberpunk 2077 is now available on PS4 and will be released on PS5 in 2021.
