Ubisoft NFT Exec Says Fans Don’t Get It

UbisoftNicholas Pouard, the VP of Strategic Innovations Lab, has touched on the roots of the company’s disorderly search for NFTs, suggesting that fans simply “don’t understand.” Yes, that’s right – he thinks it’s our fault they don’t get it right.

Speaking during Finder, Pouard suggested that gamers don’t quite understand the benefits of what a “secondary market can bring them.” Here’s what he had to say:

I think gamers don’t understand what a digital secondary market can bring them. For now, due to the current situation and context of NFTs, gamers really believe it is destroying the planet first, and second, just a tool for speculation.

But what we? [at Ubisoft] Seeing first is the endgame. The endgame is about giving players the chance to resell their items once they’re done with them or after they’ve played the game themselves. So it’s really for them. It’s really beneficial. But for now they don’t get it.
