Ubisoft shuts down Hyper Scape

Ubisoft has decided to discontinue their Battle Royale Hyperscape, effective 28-04-2022. The publisher made the announcement through the games official website, via a short and concise blog post.

You can read the statement for yourself here:

We have made the difficult decision to end development of Hyper Scape and discontinue the game effective April 28. We wanted to create a vertical, close-quarters, and fast-paced shooter experience, and we are immensely grateful to our community for joining us on our journey. We will carry the key lessons from this game into future products.

To the Hyper Scape community, thank you for your passion and dedication to the world of Neo Arcadia, both in and out of the game. Your dedication to the game we built will always be cherished.

Please contact us if you have any questions.

Sincerely, Hyper Scape

For those who enjoyed Hyperscape, this is certainly sad to see, although not terribly surprising. The battle royale genre is fiercely competitive and it takes players time away from games like Apex Legends, Call Of Duty: Warzone, and Fortnite becomes increasingly difficult for all newcomers.

In our review, we said, “It won’t do you much to pull away from your favorite battle royale game, and if you’re not a fan of the genre, it won’t make you a believer.”
