Will CoD Vanguard live up to expectations?

Call of Duty (CoD), introduced nearly two decades ago or more specifically in 2003, is one of the most played and most popular first-person shooter video games. Released by Activision and developed by Infinity Ward, Treyarch, Raven Software and Sledgehammer Games, all Call of Duty franchise releases focus on the Cold War, outer space and futuristic worlds. Over the years, several Call of Duty spin-offs hit the scene and were published by other developers.

The most recent game Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War hit the market last November, while the highly anticipated Call of Duty Vanguard will be released on November 5 this year. Call of Duty Vanguard Alpha Storyline

The Call of Duty Vanguard Alpha game is also developed by Sledgehammer Games. As expected, the game will be available on all major gaming platforms, including PlayStation4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S and Microsoft Windows. This is the eighth installment in the CoD series and revolves around the special forces. More specifically, the storyline in Call of Duty Vanguard Alpha features four World War II frontlines or four different campaigns, including North Africa, Eastern Front, Western Front, and Pacific War campaigns.

According to the Sledgehammer Games team that designed the game, the Call of Duty Vanguard Alpha single-player campaign will introduce players to the untold stories of multinational heroes’ special forces. The main characters in the eighth Call of Duty episode are inspired by real people, including Lyudmila Pavlichenko, who was a Soviet sniper. Other main characters in the game are soldiers of the allied nations, including Sgt. Arthur Kingsley, a British paratrooper for the British Army Parachute Battalion.

Lt. Polina Petrova, who works for the Red Army’s Rifle Division, inspired by Lyudmila Pavlichenko, is another main character alongside Cpt. Wade Jackson of the United States Navy Squadron and Lieutenant Lucas Riggs of the Australian Army Battalion. The main opponent is Heinrich Freisinger, director of the police of the Geheime Staatspolizei (Gestapo).

Call of Duty Vanguard Alpha gameplay

Before the game’s official release in November this year, some internal sources revealed information about the game that the developers wanted to keep secret. A special Call of Duty Warzone event took place at the end of August and CoD fans took part in the one-off event, The Battle of Verdansk. At the end of the event, the developer revealed the final CoD Vanguard Alpha trailer before the game’s official release.

While Call of Duty Vanguard Alpha isn’t an awe-inspiring game, it undoubtedly looks great from everything we’ve seen so far. Call of Duty fans will be familiar with the Multiplayer mode and the Kill Confirmed and Domination modes and the upcoming game features both with the addition of a new Patrol mode which offers a lot more action than Hardpoint and it can get very chaotic with enemies coming out everywhere. Call of Duty Vanguard also introduces a new battle pacing system.

The gameplay is based on the same Modern Warfare engine while the weapons and rifles are quite different including assault rifles, SMGs and sniper rifles. All in all, Call of Duty fans will have a blast with the upcoming game, even if they’re used to Black Ops Cold War.
