Zelda: Majora’s Mask is next N64 title on Switch

Nintendo has indicated Zelda: Majora’s Mask is coming to Nintendo Switch in February.

Nintendo Switch Online Expansion Pack

As of last year, Nintendo Switch Online has an Expansion Pack for N64 and Sega Genesis games. It is a subscription that costs €39.99 annually, comparable to PlayStation Plus. Nintendo adds games to this every month. Yesterday Banjo-Kazooie, a legendary title from the 90s, was added. The next title is Zelda: Majora’s Mask, which is good news for Zelda fans. This dark sequel is seen as one of the most unique Zelda experiences in the series.

Dark adventure in Termina

Zelda: Majora’s Mask is the second Zelda title released on Nintendo 64. In this adventure, Link finds himself in Termina, a strange and dark place that most resembles a bad dream. Even worse; a terrifying moon storms upon the world and will wipe everyone out in three days. It’s up to you to stop this in time and save the inhabitants of Termina. The game contains a lot of scary and dark images, so it’s not surprising that there are a lot of Creepypastas of have appeared.

Short development

Majora’s Mask was released in 2000, less than two years after Ocarina of Time. Aonuma, the game’s creative father, was given very little time by Miyamoto to create the sequel. The initial idea was to make an expansion to Ocarina of Time, but Aonuma kept insisting on making a darker sequel. Ultimately, Majora’s Mask has become a part of the series that is loved by fans, even if it doesn’t stand out everyone’s taste. In any case, no game has been made quite like this in the series, given the risks it took. Where Ocarina of Time sold nearly 8 million units, Majora’s Mask remained at just 3.5 million.
